Jarka Is Back

July 19, 2011 - World TeamTennis (WTT)
Kansas City Explorers News Release

WTT Wildcard player, Jarmilia Gajdosova (formerly Groth) is back with the Explorers for the remaining matches this season. Gajdosova was a member of the 2010 Explorers Championship team and was awarded the WTT Finals Most Valuable Player Award. She finished the 2010 WTA tour ranked 42nd in singles but has jumped to the 28th spot. Gajdosova and returning Explorer, Kveta Peschke were the top women's doubles team in the league last year.

General Manager and Co-Owner of the Explorers, Jeff Launius said, "We're all ecstatic to have Jarka back with the team. Hopefully we'll have a strong run with her and she can help get us to the playoffs. She is a huge asset to this organization."

The Western Conference is now in a three-way tie for first place between the Sacramento Capitals, Kansas City Explorers and St.Louis Aces. The final series between the Aces and Explorers will most likely determine which team will make it to the playoffs in South Carolina.

The next home match for the Explorers and Gajdosova will be played tomorrow against the St. Louis Aces featuring two-time Davis Cup Champion, Mark Philippoussis. In the peak of his career, Philippoussis reached the top ten in men's singles and was featured on NBC's show, Age of Love. The Explorers and Aces will then head to St. Louis for the final regular season match.

Tickets to tomorrow's match are now available for $10 and can be ordered ahead of time by calling 816.513.5630 or can be purchased at the match. Match start time is 7:35pm and the gates will open at 6pm.
