Kansas City Explorers News Release

The All-Star Summer continues with the Kansas City Explorers who are starting their 20th anniversary season. As part of the celebration, the Explorers will be hosting a concert series featuring contestants from NBC's No. 1 show, "The Voice." Erin Willett will perform after the home opener on July 13 and Tony Lucca will cap off the season on July 28.

"We are excited about having people of this caliber come," General Manager Jeff Lauinius said. "Kansas City is so fortunate to have these performers come here and perform for the fans."

The Explorers are also rolling back to the original price of $10 for grandstand tickets for every home match. The concerts will be free after the matches for all fans in attendance.

"We have a lot of exciting themes planned this year because we want the fans to win as we celebrate our 20th anniversary season," Lauinius said.

After three matches on the road the Explorers will return to Kansas City to host their home opener against the Springfield Lasers on July 13 at Barney Allis Plaza. The first 500 fans will receive commemorative 20th anniversary t-shirts and everyone will be invited to stay and watch Willett perform after the match.

Two days later the Explorers will host East Coast rivals, the NY Sportimes. This will also be Military Night where the Explorers will be collecting supplies for Fort Riley's A Troop CAV 1-4 who is currently deployed in Afghanistan.

The Explorers will celebrate their 20th anniversary on July 20. The WTT will be honoring the Explorers for two decades in the league. Fans are invited to dress up in retro clothing to cheer on their home team against the Sacramento Capitals.

The next night will be Ladies Night with a wine tasting from Les Bourgeois before the match and raffle items for the female fans. The Explorers will face the Orange County Breakers.

For the only non-weekend match on the schedule, the Explorers will be offering 2-for-1 tickets on Tuesday, July 24 for their rematch with the Springfield Lasers.

Miller Light and 810 Sports Radio will help the Explorers host a Beach Bash on July 27 for their match against the Washington Kastles. The first 500 fans will receive free leis and sunglasses. There will be a dunk tank, limbo contest and costume contest.
