Jared Wright Selected by the Los Angeles Kings in the 2022 NHL Draft

Omaha Lancers News Release

OMAHA, NE. - Jared Wright came in third in total point-getting for the Lancers in the 2021-22 season in the form of 15 goals & 19 assists for 34 points in 59 regular season games played. The lightning-fast winger played a massive role in the Lancers' success in their attacking zone, being the first one in deep, below the goal line in most play setups.

Wright is a very consistent forward, averaging just over a point in every other game played. Throughout the 2021-22 season, Wright picked up three 3+ game point streaks, including getting two four-game point streaks within a 5 week span. One of which consisted of seven points through four games.

Much like his other NHL Drafted teammate, Alex Bump, Wright had a great postseason as well in the 2022 Clark Cup Playoffs.

With the Lancers knocking off the Fargo Force in the opening round 2-0, and falling to the regular season champion, Tri-City Storm in the western conference semifinal round 2-0, Wright captured three points in four total postseason games played in the form of one goal and two assists.

The Colgate University commit also participated in the BioSteel All-American Game in Plymouth, Michigan this past season as he shared that spotlight with former teammate, Hunter McDonald

The 2021-22 season was Wright's first in the United States Hockey League, as he was bounced around three teams in the season prior.

Wright started his dominate play in the 2020-21 season with Team MAP South of the Upper Midwest High School Hockey League, where he averaged 1.39 points per game (15G-10A-25P).

Following his time there, he had a brief stint with the Minot Minotauros of the North American Hockey League, before finishing out the season in Minnesota Prep-School Hockey as he was named captain of St. Thomas Academy. While with St. Thomas, he was the second best point-getter (16G-22A-38P) through 21 games played, only trailing now current Dubuque Fighting Saint Forward, Jackson Hallum by three points. Hallum is also drafted as he was picked #91 overall in the 3rd round of the 2020 NHL Draft by the Vegas Golden Knights.

With Jared Wright being drafted by the Los Angeles Kings, he is the second player from the 2021-22 season to be drafted (joining Alex Bump). Which makes it the second year in a row that the Lancers have multiple players drafted by the NHL.
