Jared Jones Named af2 Schutt Offensive Player of the Week

ALBANY, NY - The Albany Conquest announced today wide receiver Jared Jones has been named the arenafootball2's Schutt Offensive Player of the Week for Week 3 of the 2008 season.
Jones (6-0, 200, Syracuse) had an outstanding individual effort on Sunday afternoon for Albany in the team's 55-54 overtime win against Peoria in the Conquest's 2008 home opener. The second-year player from Syracuse helped Albany steal the victory away from the Pirates with an af2 season-high 325 all-purpose yards (153 KR, 37 FGR, 129 Rcv, 6 Rush) and three total touchdowns. He finished with 10 catches for 129 yards and two touchdowns as a wide receiver and scored on a 55-yard kick return as well. This is the first weekly league honor of Jones' career. He currently leads the Conquest in a number of categories, including receiving (21 catches, 268 yards, 4 TDs), scoring (36 points - 6 total TDs) and all-purpose yards (504).
Schutt Offensive Player of the Week candidates included: Spokane's Jason Murrietta, Boise's Royal Gill, Boise's George Williams, Florida's Chris Wallace, Bossier-Shreveport's Gary Cooper, Amarillo's Julian Reese, Iowa's Joe Brannen, Daytona Beach's Scott Jefferies, Corpus Christi's John Cook, Louisville's Lonell Dewalt, Quad City's J.J. Raterink, Green Bay's Shane Adler, Wilkes-Barre/Scranton's Matt Schabert, Tulsa's Justin Allgood and Lubbock's Reggie Glover.
This week Albany heads to New Hampshire for a Friday, April 18th match up with the Manchester Wolves; kick off is set for 7:30 pm at Verizon Wireless Arena. The Conquest are back home during Week 5 for their second home game of the 2008 season. Albany will host the Mahoning Valley Thunder on Saturday, April 26th for a 7:00 pm kick off at the Times Union Center, looking for revenge of their Week 1 loss to the Thunder in Ohio.
