Amarillo Venom News Release
AMARILLO, TEXAS The arena football 2 league office released today the Coaches Poll, ranking the top 16 teams in the af2. The Amarillo Dusters were on the list for the first time in two seasons, with a ranking of 13.
"It is exciting to have our success from the past two weeks recognized by other coaches in the league," said Dusters head coach, Chris MacKeown. "This is just another step in achieving our original goal of playoffs and the championship."
The af2 Coaches Poll is voted on each week. The head coaches from each team choose the top 16 teams in the league by ranking them one through 16. Teams ranked first receive 16 points with the point value decreasing by one for each place below first. Total points determine the Top 16 list.
The af2 Coaches Poll is announced every Wednesday during the regular season. Coaches are not allowed to vote for their own team and the poll results have no bearing on postseason qualification.
Central Valley was ranked number two when they came to Amarillo, but in week four they are ranked at 15. The Tulsa Talons are holding on to the number one spot, now for the fourth week.
The Bossier Shreveport Battlewings are in the number eight spot with the Dusters coming into town.
