Janesville Jets News Release

The Janesville Jets organization is looking for people within the area to act as housing parents for the team players, ages 16 to 20.

Up to 25 Jets players, who will be moving to Janesville from throughout the United States and potentially abroad, will need to be housed from their move-in date of August 22th through April 2011.

The "billet" family will be provided $300 a month per hockey player housed to offset food and other costs. They also will receive 2 Jets season tickets per player housed and will be invited to partake in a special Housing Family Appreciation Night at one of the games where the hockey parents will be recognized.

Qualifications include providing a bedroom for each player as well as a commitment to the players and general responsible parenting. Additionally, the team will conduct background checks on all billet applicants.

"Billeting can be very rewarding for area parents, but it does take a special commitment to the players," stated Jets Head Coach Dane Litke. "These parents will be responsible for the players while they are away from home. And the hours can be a little crazy - the players will be returning home at 4 AM from some away game series."

Cindy Squire of Janesville is serving as the Jets Billet Coordinator. Carol McCoshen will be assisting with billet duties and also managing the Jets player community outreach program. Parents interested in being a Jets Housing Parent can call Cindy at (608) 289-8441 or email her at cindy@janesvillejets.com. Additionally information can be found on the Jets Web site at www.janesvillejets.com.

"I know the rewards of housing others' children, since we have housed foreign exchange students before," stated Squire. "It can really be fun and make friendships that last a lifetime."

The Jets will be interviewing host families immediately.
