Jan Jas Scores Hat Trick to Lead PrairieThunder Over Flint

BLOOMINGTON, Ill. - Jan Jas scored the third hat-trick in Bloomington PrairieThunder history to lead his team to a 5-3 victory over Flint in International Hockey League action Friday before 3,760 people at U.S. Cellular Coliseum.
The victory ran the PrairieThunder unbeaten string to a season-high six - one short of the franchise record - and moved its record to 16-22-1-2 (35 points). The loss dropped Flint to 15-25-2-4 (36 points).
The PrairieThunder returns to action Saturday with a 6:30 p.m. contest at Kalamazoo before returning home for a 7:05 p.m. contest Wednesday against Muskegon.
Marty Standish put the PrairieThunder on the board first with a goal at the 14:54 mark of the first period. He was assisted by John Nail and Brett Holmberg. Flint then tied the game with 1:11 remaining in the first period on a Travis Hanson goal with assists to Justin Styffe and Dan McNeill.
Jas scored his first goal of the game at the 11:39 mark of the second period off an assist from Standish, who also had three points on the night with a goal and two assists. Flint tied the game two minutes later on a Zach Pearson short-handed goal with assists by Joel Gasper and Ryan Jorde.
Standish put the PrairieThunder back in front five minutes into the third period when he scored on an assist by Holmberg. But the Generals drew even again one minute later on Steve Rymsha's goal off assists by Greg Bullock and Pearson.
Jas scored what proved to be the winning goal with 7:46 remaining in the game on assists by Jon Booras and Henry Kuster. Jas added his hat-trick goal 73 seconds later on assists by Booras and Kuster.
Rookie goaltender Ryan Ludzik earned the victory to even his record at 7-7-1-2 by stopping 21 of 24 shots and five power play opportunities.
Adam Dekker took the loss for Flint after swatting away 33 of 38 shots and eight Bloomington power play tries.
