Jamestown Jammers News Release

BOSTON, Mass. - Jamestown scored seven runs on 10 hits before rain halted play at Fenway Park, beating Lowell, 7-2, in five-plus innings. The win keeps the team in sole possession of first place in the Pinckney Division.

After both teams squandered scoring chances in the top of the first inning, Jamestown scored four runs with two outs in the top of the second.

Brent Keys and Harold Brantley, Jr. drew walks before Noah Perio's two-run double put the Jammers up 2-0. Marcell Ozuna and Ryan Fisher followed with run-scoring singles to make it 4-0.

In the top of the third, Dallas Hord drove in a run with a ground out to give the Jammers a 5-0 lead. One inning later, Ozuna blasted his fourth home run of the season to make it 6-0, a solo shot over the Green Monster in left field. He finished the game 4-for-4 with three RBIs and three runs scored.

Jamestown added a run in the top of the sixth on Ozuna's fourth hit of the game and threatened for more before the rains came. The Jammers had the bases loaded with two outs and a 2-2 count on Aaron Senne before the umpires called for the tarp and, after a 33-minute delay, called the game.

The offensive display was more than enough for Gonzalez, who pitched 4.2 innings of two-run ball to earn his first win of the season. He allowed both runs with two outs in the bottom of the fifth inning before giving way to reliever Kenneth Toves. The left-hander recorded the final out for his second save of the season.

The Jammers will play three games at Tri-City before returning home for a three-game set against Staten Island starting Wednesday. Tomorrow's series opener against the ValleyCats is scheduled for 5:00 pm and will be shown live on Time Warner Jamestown Channel 3.
