Jacksonville Sharks News Release

JACKSONVILLE - The 2013 South Division Champion Jacksonville Sharks announced Wednesday that defensive back Jamaal Fudge has been assigned to the team's roster. Per team policy, terms of the deal were not disclosed.

A Jacksonville native, the 30-year-old Fudge returns to the team after being placed on reassignment on June 19. Fudge has played in eight of the Sharks' 16 games this season, totaling 34.5 tackles (22 solo) while primarily seeing time at Jack linebacker. During his first tenure with the Sharks, Fudge showed a remarkable penchant for forcing turnovers, racking up four forced fumbles, four fumble recoveries and two interceptions in those eight games. Between Week 10 and Week 12, Fudge either forced or recovered a fumble in three consecutive games.

Fudge is in his second AFL season, having played in six games with the New Orleans VooDoo in 2012. His extensive professional football career includes a four-year career in the NFL, as he totaled 27 tackles (23 solo) during his time with the Jacksonville Jaguars and Atlanta Falcons.

A graduate of Edward H. White High School in Jacksonville, Fudge starred at Clemson University before beginning his professional career.

In another Wednesday transaction, the Sharks announced that offensive lineman Thomas Claiborne has been placed on inactive reserve. Following the moves, the Jacksonville roster remains at the League maximum of 24 active players.
