
Jam raise banner in style

Long Beach, CA. The ABA Long Beach Jam raised its 2003-2004 championship banner at the Pyramid in Long Beach before beating the Orange County Crush in the season opener, 134-122 in front of 2,276 excited fans.
The defending champion Jam had a balanced attack consisting of six playes scoring more than 15 points. Leading the charge was Felipe Lopez with 23 points, Kueth Duany added 22 and 7 rebounds, Nick Sheppard tallied 16 points, 12 rebounds and 2 steals.
A team of familiar faces, the Crush are coached by former Jam coach, Earl Cureton and former assistant, Corey Gaines. Derrick Dial, last season's ABA Offensive Player of the Year with the Jam, scored 31 points and added 10 rebounds. Another former Jammer, Jerry Dupree chipped in 23 points.
