BAKERSFIELD, November 17, 2012 - The Bakersfield Jam fell short 120-117 in OT Saturday night against the Los Angeles D-Fenders 120-117. The pre-season game between the Jam and D-Fenders was played at the Citizens Business Bank Arena in Ontario, CA.
Down 58-47 at halftime, the Jam outscored the D-Fenders 31-18 in the third period to take a 78-76 lead into the final period. The fourth quarter remained a battle. The Jam held a 106-104 lead with 12.9 seconds left in the game, but a D-Fenders three-pointer gave them a 107-106 lead. The Jam then scored a free-throw which sent it to overtime. In overtime, the Jam fell behind early (117-111) but fought back to tie the game at 117 courtesy of two three-pointers by Stephen Dennis. With time running out, Darnell Dodson made a game-winning three-pointer to give the D-Fenders the win.
Dennis led all scorers off the bench with 30 points to go along with four steals, three assists, and three rebounds. Damion James scored 17 points, grabbed six rebounds, and dished out four assists. Adam Koch finished with 11 points and five rebounds.
Los Angeles Lakers assignee Darius Johnson-Odom and Orien Greene led the D-Fenders with 22 points each. Jarrid Famous scored 20 points and grabbed nine rebounds.
The Bakersfield Jam open the 2012-13 regular season on the road against the Rio Grande Valley Vipers next Friday November 23 at 5:00 p.m. PT. The Jam home opener comes a week later on Thursday, November 29 when they host the Idaho Stampede at 7:00 p.m. PT.
