BAKERSFIELD, March 2, 2014 - Jerel McNeal led the Jam with 19 points and Ike Diogu recorded a double-double (18 points, 12 rebounds) as the Bakersfield Jam (13-22) topped the Delaware 87ers (11-28) 119-113 Sunday night at the Dignity Health Event Center.
Down 32-24 after one quarter of play, Bakersfield came out on fire in the second quarter as they scored 37 points on 11-of-17 shooting from the field (64.7%) and took a 61-58 lead at the break. Momentum remained on Bakersfield's side for the second half as the Jam stretched their lead to as many as 18 in the third and by 19 in the fourth. Although Delaware fought back late in the game to come within five points, the Jam were able to hold off and snapped a four-game losing streak.
Bakersfield held the edge in field goal shooting (44.4%-42.5%), points in the paint (52-40) and second chance points (17-16), while Delaware had more rebounds (50-49), blocks (13-2) and assists (21-17).
Terrel Harris finished with 18 points for the Jam and Dennis Horner added a double-double with 15 points and 11 rebounds. Jeremy Wise had 14 points and five assists off the bench.
The Sevens were led by Vander Blue who posted 47 points, seven rebounds and five assists. Thanasis Antetokounmpo tallied 14 points while Damian Sanders (13 points, 12 rebounds) and Tiny Gallon (10 points, 10 rebounds) each recorded a double-double.
