Jam Defeated in Santa Cruz

BAKERSFIELD, December 23, 2012 - The Bakersfield Jam (8-5) were defeated Sunday night against the Santa Cruz Warriors (6-2) by a final score of 93-88.

Bakersfield led early in the first couple of minutes of the game (5-0) but saw that lead erase quickly and trailed the rest of the game. The Jam trailed by as many as 11 points in the first half and 15 in the second half. The closest Bakersfield got was within four points (79-75) in the fourth quarter but Santa Cruz responded back and kept the lead to get the win in their season home-opener.

James Nunnally led the Jam off the bench with 19 points, four rebounds, three assists and three steals. Renaldo Major scored 18 points and grabbed eight rebounds while Brian Butch and Stephen Dennis both had 11 points. Jerel McNeal and Isma'il Muhammad both contributed 10 points on the night.

Santa Cruz Warriors were led by Golden State Warriors assignee Kent Blazemore with 18 points and seven rebounds. Travis Leslie scored 15 points and had nine rebounds while Jeremy Tyler (Golden State Warriors assignee) finished with a double-double of 14 points and 12 rebounds.

Bakersfield will head back home and take on the Rio Grande Valley Vipers twice on Saturday, December 29 and Sunday, December 30.
