Bakersfield Jam News Release

BAKERSFIELD - The Bakersfield Jam (25-12) fell to the Erie Bayhawks (22-18) 118-97 Saturday at the Erie Insurance Arena.

A poor first half performance by the Jam put them in a deficit too big to overcome as they fell behind 68-48 at the break. In that first half, Bakersfield committed 14 turnovers (finished the game with 23) to Erie's five but the biggest difference was the Bayhawks hot shooting from three-point land as they made 10-of-23 from beyond the arc while the Jam went 0-of-6. In the second half, Bakersfield fell behind by as many as 31 points and never got into a rhythm to erase the big deficit.

Quincy Acy, on assignment from the Toronto Raptors, had a team-high of 17 points, grabbed nine rebounds and dished out three assists. Brian Butch had 15 points and eight rebounds while Damion James and Jerel McNeal each scored 14 points. Renaldo Major finished with 11 points.

Erie was led by Mustafa Shakur who posted a game-high of 29 points (10-of-14 FGs) and nine assists. Cory Higgins scored 26 points and grabbed eight rebounds while Nick Covington tallied 15 points.

Bakersfield will next travel to Fort Wayne, IN to take on the Mad Ants tomorrow March 10 at 2 p.m. PST.
