BAKERSFIELD, CALIF., February 16, 2015 - The Bakersfield Jam have acquired Alec Brown as a draft rights player, the team announced today.
Brown, a 7-1, 235-pound center, was selected in the second round (50th overall) in the 2014 NBA Draft by the Phoenix Suns. The 22-year old appeared in five games for the Suns Summer League team, averaging 2.8 points and 1.4 rebounds in 10.6 minutes.
Originally from Winona, Minnesota, Brown played collegiately at Wisconsin-Green Bay from 2010-2014. He was named Horizon League Defensive Player of the Year and First Team All-Horizon League in 2013-14, where he averaged 15.3 points, 5.7 rebounds and 3.1 blocks as a senior. Brown finished as the school's all-time leading shot blocker (309) and fifth all-time leading scorer (1,796).
Jam returns to action on Tuesday, February 17 when they host the Los Angeles D-Fenders at 7:00 p.m. PT.
