Oshawa Generals News Release
OSHAWA, ON- The Oshawa Generals have announced today that they have traded defenceman Jalen Smereck to the Flint Firebirds in exchange for 2nd round pick in 2018, 4th round pick in 2017 and 4th round pick in 2019.
Smereck will be returning to his home state of Michigan, entering his second season in the OHL. Smereck ranked second amongst Generals defenceman in scoring last season recording 25 points (5G, 20A) in 63 games.
"Jalen came in his first year and made a major impact. His performance this season made it a difficult decision to make this deal." Says Roger Hunt Vice President and General Manager of the Oshawa Generals. "We were in a position with a surplus of left handed defenceman. With this move we have opened the opportunity for our current defence core to take on more responsibility."
