Jake Livanavage Named USHL Defenseman of the Week

GENEVA, ILLINOIS - Chicago Steel defenseman Jake Livanavage has been named United States Hockey League Defenseman of the Week for the first time in his USHL career, the league announced Tuesday.
Livanavage, a University of North Dakota commit, notched a career-best three-point night with three helpers in a 6-4 victory over the Cedar Rapids RoughRiders on Dec. 10 and scored the game-winning goal in another 6-4 win the following night over the Muskegon Lumberjacks on Dec. 11.
"Jake's elite skill set and high compete level are evident every time he steps on the ice," said Steel Associate Head Coach Matt Deschamps. "His skating ability and capacity to make a positive impact in all situations during the game has made him extremely valuable to the Steel and very deserving of this great recognition by the League."
This season, Livanavage has more than doubled his scoring output from his rookie campaign with 21 points (2G, 19A) through 25 games played. He was listed as a 'C'-rated skater according to NHL Central Scouting on their initial watch list for the 2022 NHL Draft.
During the 2020-2021 season, Livanavage totaled nine points (1G, 8A) in 43 regular season games before appearing in eight Clark Cup Playoffs games, helping the Steel capture the second league title in franchise history.
Livanavage is the second Steel player to take home Player of the Week honors this season, joining forward Adam Fantilli who earned his first career Forward of the Week honor on Nov. 16.
