Champion City Kings News Release

SPRINGFIELD, Ohio - The Prospect League released its 2014 Post-Season All-Star Team Friday. The Champion City Kings are represented by right-fielder Jake Bennett. The team is voted on by field managers, a front office representative from each team and by one media representative per team.

Bennett, a sophomore this fall at Western Nevada College, led the Prospect League with a .342 batting average. He also ranked seventh in the league in doubles with 12, fifth in triples with 4, and collected 22 RBIs while playing exceptional defense in right field - including four outfield assists.

Between July 2 and July 31, Bennett hit in a league-high 21 consecutive games. The hit-streak ranks as the second-longest in Prospect League history, tied with Jacob Luenburg (DeKalb County - 2011), Chris Manning (Terre Haute - 2011) and Kevin Plawecki (Richmond - 2010). During the streak, Bennett hit .410, held an on-base percentage of .465 and struck out just six times in 78 at bats.

The Forest Grove, Ore. native also represented the Kings at this year's All-Star Game in Terre Haute, Ind.
