Jaguars games on WVJN - 1160AM

November 1, 2004 - American Basketball Association (ABA)
New Jersey SkyCats News Release

Mahwah, NJ. Adam Colaizzi, Director of Game Operations for the ABA New Jersey Jaguars professional basketball team today announced that WVNJ - 1160AM would be the exclusive radio home for the team. The station will air live coverage of all 18 home games to be played at the newly-constructed Bill Bradley Center on the campus of Ramapo College.

WVNJ, based in nearly Oakland, NJ has a 20,000 watt signal that primarily covers the northern New Jersey and Rockland and Westchester counties in New York. The signal may be heard in other areas of NY, NJ and Connecticut as well.

According to Colaizzi, "We are very happy to be working with WVNJ. As a first-year team, it has been important to us from the beginning that we make every effort to bring our team and league to the basketball fans in Northern Jersey, many of whom are looking for an alternative to the NBA for a variety of reasons. We hope to fill that need, and the coverage we will receive from WVNJ is an important step in that direction. WVNJ promotes itself as the "Station of the Stars," and we look forward to our team and players bringing another dimension to that reputation."

Colaizzi added, "We are currently retooling our website and hope to unveil some other exciting news items in the very near future, including our opening day roster. Owner/head coach Ron Eford has been overseing training camp for over two weeks and should have the roster cut down to the final list shortly. Ron indicates that he has a pretty good team."

The home opener for the Jaguars will be Sunday, December 5th at 5PM against Harlem. For more information about WVNJ, go to www.wvnj.com or visit www.jerseyjaguars.com or www.abalive.com - contact Adam Colaizzi at adamc@jerseyjaguars.com.

Note: OurSports Central no longer actively covers the American Basketball Association (ABA) as a professional league due in part to its inability to publish and play a schedule and the transitory nature of many of its teams.
