
Jacques '16 Becomes 24th Mountaineer to Make MLB Debut with Red Sox

MONTPELIER, Vt - The Vermont Mountaineers added to their alumni list of players making their Major League Baseball debut. Joe Jacques (Manhattan / Shrewsbury, N.J.), a member of the 2016 Mountaineers, made his major league debut for the Boston Red Sox on June 12th.
Jacques became the 24th Vermont Mountaineer to make their debut. In 2016, he pitched in six games with four starts. He finished the year with a 2-1 record and a 1.58 ERA over 22.2 innings. He had 16 strikeouts and allowed just four earned runs all summer.
He was selected by the Pittsburgh Pirates in the 2018 MLB Draft as the 984th pick in the 33rd round. He was acquired by the Red Sox in the 2023 Rule 5 draft.
