
Jacome Shuts out First-Place Bend

MEDFORD, OR - Led by a stellar outing from Rogues pitcher Justin Jacome, Medford scored two late runs to take the first game of a three-game series against the Bend Elks with 2-0 win at Harry and David Field.
Jacome (1-0) threw eight full innings, allowing only six hits and striking out seven batters in his second scoreless start for the Rogues. He has yet to issue a walk this season and has a 0.00 ERA through 14 innings.
With a man on first and second in the eighth inning, Rogues designated hitter Kevin Davidson drove in the first run of the game with an RBI single bringing in infielder Joe Chavez. Third baseman Jared Casper would come in to score off an Elks error after an intentional walk put him on first. RHP Hector Lujan picked up his first save of the season for the Rogues, pitching the ninth inning and striking out two. Bend pitcher Michael Jordan (0-1) took the loss for the Elks.
Davidson hit 2-for-4 on the night with one RBI while Chavez hit 2-for-3 with a run.
With the win the Rogues improve to 10-13 in the West Coast League and are two and a half games out of playoff spot in the South. Medford handed Bend their first opening series loss this season as they fall to 18-10 in the WCL.
Action continues Saturday night as the Elks try to tie the series in game to at Harry and David Field. First pitch is scheduled for 6:35 p.m.
