
Jackson returns for third season

The Gwinnett Gladiators announced today that defenseman Jim Jackson has been signed for the 2005-06 season. Jackson becomes the first player signed for the 2005- 2006 season that begins on October 21st.
"Jimmy was one of our top defensemen last year," said Gladiators head coach Jeff Pyle. "He has great vision and knows our systems really well, plus he can run the power play. He's a great all around asset for our organization."
Jackson, an original member of the Gladiators, returns for his third season with the team. The Marquette, Michigan native posted 12 goals and 17 assists for 29 points in 52 games last season with the Gladiators. Jackson represented the Gladiators at the 2005 ECHL All Star Game in Reading, PA. He posted an assist in eight Kelly Cup Playoff Games last year.
In his rookie campaign during the 2003-04 season, Jackson was named the ECHL Plus Performer of the Month for February with a +15 rating. The defenseman finished the season with 12 goals and 21 assists for 33 points and was a +34 to finish 4th in the league in that category.
In four collegiate seasons at Northern Michigan, Jackson tallied 22 goals and 64 assists for 86 points in 153 games. During his first collegiate season, Jackson was named to the 1999-2000 All Rookie Team.
