Adirondack Lumberjacks News Release

Glens Falls, NY- The Adirondack Lumberjacks of the Northern League announced today the signing of former Schaumburg Flyer outfielder Brain Shultz. The twenty-five year old is expected to join the Jacks in Allentown in time to suit up for tonight's doubleheader.

Shultz was signed by the Flyers prior to the 1999 season after graduating from Texas A&M- Kingsville, and had an outstanding rookie year, batting .301 with 6 home runs and 36 RBI's. The Las Vegas, NV native's best season came a year later though, as he hit .277 with 9 home runs and 54 RBI's in 2000.

"Signing Brian gives us another quality left handed batter in our lineup. He can hit for average, but also has some pop in his bat. I think he will do very well, playing in East Field," stated Jacks General Manager Curt Jacey.

Brian is a career .282 hitter, and has 16 career home runs and 119 career RBI's.

The Lumberjacks invite all area schools to participate in the Second Annual School Day at East Field. On Wednesday, June 5, the Lumberjacks game against the Allentown Ambassadors will begin at 11 AM, and tickets to area schools are free, courtesy of Glens Falls Hospital, Edward Jones representative Carl Cedrone, Boston Scientific, and the Post Star.
