Odessa Jackalopes News Release
ODESSA, TX - The Odessa Jackalopes continued to shake up their roster for the 2014-15 season by sending Goaltender Eric Hancock, Defenseman Chris Taff, and Defenseman David Chavis II to the Brookings Blizzard in exchange for their second round pick (26th overall) in the 2014 draft. This means that the Jacks will pick four times in the first two rounds, more than any other team in the league.
Hancock, a 1995 birth year from Cleveland, OH was slated to be the backup goaltender in 2013-14 but picked up a struggling Yoshi Kuroiwa in the month of November. Hancock went 4-2 with a 2.33 Goals Against Average and a .926 Save Percentage in his best stretch of the season. Hancock's numbers tailed off toward the end of the season, winning three of his last 19 appearances.
NAHL journeyman Chris Taff settled into his second season with the Jackalopes in 2013-14. In 57 games, Taff lead all Jackalopes Defenseman in scoring with 16 points. Taff's five points on the power play this season ranked him second on the team in that department. His rugged play earned him 96 minutes in penalties, third on the Jacks in the 2013-14 campaign.
A rookie in the 2013-14 season, Grosse Pointe Woods, MI native David Chavis II gained valuable experience in his 38 game journey in a Jackalopes uniform. The 6-4, 205 lbs. Defenseman, who had trouble cracking the veteran-laden Jackalopes defensive lineup on most nights, will now be called upon to deliver big minutes for first-year Head Coach Dan Daikawa in Brookings.
The NAHL Draft takes place on Tuesday, June 3rd at 1:00 pm Central Time. You can follow along with the Jacks as they make their picks on Facebook and Twitter, or listen to the draft in its entirety on FASTHockey.com
