Wichita Falls Wildcats News Release

WICHITA FALLS, Texas - Forward Josh Haverstrom will continue his hockey career at the collegiate level after committing to the University of Massachusetts Boston for the 2014-15 season.

The Orlando, Fla.-native becomes the second Wildcat to announce his commitment following the completion of the season, joining defenseman Alfred Johansson, who committed to Marian University last week.

Haverstrom enjoyed a strong campaign in his only season in Wichita Falls. Despite missing time due to injury in the early stages of the season, he posted 25 points on 11 goals and 14 assists to rank among the team leaders in those categories. Haverstrom also potted three game-winning goals, tied for second-most on the team.

Prior to joining the Wildcats, Haverstrom spent the 2012-13 campaign with the Idaho Jr. Steelheads of the Western States Hockey League, where he posted 51 points (17 goals, 34 assists) in 42 games, helping the Steelheads win the WSHL championship.

UMass Boston competes in the ECAC East, a Division III conference that also features perennial powerhouses Norwich University and Babson College. The Beacons finished the 2013-14 campaign with a record of 17-6-4, while scoring a league-high 114 goals.

Boasting an enrollment upwards of 12,000, UMass Boston is the third-largest campus in the University of Massachusetts system. UMass Boston is also the only public university in Boston, offering both undergraduate and graduate programs.
