Odessa Jackalopes News Release
(Odessa, TX) - The Odessa Jackalopes are proud to announce today that one of their front office staff members is moving on to the National Basketball Association. Tyler Cofer, Odessa's Director of Game Operations and Merchandising, has been hired in Oklahoma City as the "Entertainment Coordinator" for the NBA team that recently relocated from Seattle.
"It's certainly an exciting opportunity for me," said Cofer. "The ownership and staff here treated me first-class. It's bittersweet. I'm leaving a great operation here in Odessa, but I also have the chance to work in one of the four major sport leagues in the country."
Cofer, who is a native of Oklahoma, was hired by the Jacks back in May to take over the team's merchandise and in-game entertainment. Now he's moving on to handle similar duties in the NBA.
"We're truly excited for Tyler," said Jackalopes General Manager Joe Clark. "Our job here is not only to move players up and on, but staffers as well. It's a loss for us, from a staffing perspective, but it gives people an indication of the type of employees we're bringing on board."
Clark is currently interviewing candidates for that position, and said he expects to have the position filled by the middle of September.
The Odessa Jackalopes are the Central Hockey League affiliate for the NHL's New York Islanders and the AHL's Bridgeport Sound Tigers. The team will begin its 12th season on October 17th against the defending champion Arizona Sundogs. Season tickets, mini-plans, and single game tickets are available by calling (432) 552-PUCK or visiting jackalopes.org.
