
Jacks Fall 5-4 in Overtime to Green Bay, Split Weekend Series

GREEN BAY, Wisc. - For the 12th consecutive game, the Muskegon Lumberjacks collected at least one point as they eventually fell in overtime to the Green Bay Gamblers by a final score of 5-to-4 on Saturday, Jan. 29 from the Resch Center located in the heart of Green Bay. Noah Ellis, Nick Peluso, Owen Mehlenbacher, and Joey Larson all lit the lamp for Muskegon, but it ultimately wasn't enough as the Gamblers managed to steal the extra standings point in the overtime loss. After banking three-out-of-four possible points on the weekend, the Jacks remain in first place in the Eastern Conference with 49 points and an overall record of 22-10-3-2.
1st Period
For the second night in a row, the Gamblers struck first, courtesy of Ryan Greene at 4:45 of the first period to make it a 1-to-0 game. Greene's 11th of the season was assisted by Jackson Hallum and Cam Lund.
At 8:34 of the period, Muskegon blueliner Noah Ellis put the Lumberjacks on the board to tie the game 1-to-1 with his fourth goal of the season. Assisting on the goal for the Jacks as Nick Peluso.
After earning an assist on the previous goal, Nick Peluso found his way on the scoresheet yet again at 11:19 after tipping a puck from teammate Jacob Guevin to give the Jacks the 2-to-1 lead. Peluso's second goal of the season was assisted by Guevin and Jack Williams.
However, the Muskegon did not last as Green Bay's Jackson Hallum went five-hole on Cameron Korpi to tie the game 2-to-2 at 13:05 of the period. Hallum's 20th goal of the season was helped by Ryan Greene.
At the end of the first period, both teams skated to a 2-to-2 tie.
2nd Period
While on the power play at 1:41, Green Bay's Cam Lund found the back of the net to give the Gamblers the 3-to-2 lead. Jackson Hallum and Brody Lamb picked up assists on Lund's 13th goal of the season.
Owen Mehlenbacher responded for Muskegon at 16:25 with his sixth goal of the season to even the score 3-to-3. Gavin McCarthy and Joey Larson scooped up assists on the equalizer.
After two full periods of play, the score remained tied yet again, this time 3-to-3.
3rd Period
With just over four minutes left in regulation, Green Bay took control with a goal from Brody Lamb at 15:43 of the third period. Lamb's 11th of the season was assisted by Ryan Greene and Jackson Hallum to give Green Bay the 4-to-3 lead.
Just 30 seconds later, Joey Larson leveled the score for the Lumberjacks with his 20th goal of the season at 16:13 of the period. Quinn Hutson tallied the lone assist to tie the game 4-to-4.
With both teams knotted up at 4-to-4, an extra session was needed to declare the winner.
Overtime
It only took 2:12 for Green Bay to collect the extra standings point as Ryan Greene ended the game with his 12th goal of the season. Greene's goal went unassisted as the Gamblers defeated the Lumberjacks by a final score of 5-to-4.

The Muskegon Lumberjacks will hit the road again for a single-game matchup with Team USA U18 on Friday, Feb. 4 from Plymouth, Mich. at USA Hockey Arena with puck drop slated for 7:05 pm EST.
