Odessa Jackalopes News Release

WENATCHEE, WA - After a 44 save performance in goal by Robin Johansson, the Jacks were looking to sweep the Wenatchee Wild move to a game over .500 for the season. The Wild sent Forbes Ploszaj back between the pipes trying to split with the Jacks and propel themselves out of last place in the South division.

After a tightly contested first period that went scoreless, the Jacks broke through first at 9:32 of the second. Alex Alger (Miami of Ohio) stole the puck from Donovan Ott and beat Forbes Ploszaj over the left shoulder. The league's leading scorer Kenny Hausinger (Sacred Heart) got in on the action later on in the second. Hausinger led the rush out of his own zone and eventually got a pass from Chad Guderian that he redirected past the glove of Ploszaj to make it 2-0 Jacks. Wenatchee got a late goal from Jakob Liljeroos to cut the Jacks lead to 2-1 after two periods.

In the third, Wenatchee got back-to-back goals to go up 3-2. Hampus Sjodahl (SHOW-doll) evened up the score at three on a powerplay goal at 14:59. With the game tied at three in the final minute, Wenatchee won a draw in the Jacks zone and Jake Ahlgren found Ryan Chaisson in front of the Jacks goal. His shot beat Robin Johansson to put Wenatchee up 4-3 at 19:12. The Jacks tried to mount a late comeback, but their effort was thwarted and Wild held on for a 4-3 decision.

Robin Johansson made 30 saves in the losing effort. Kenny Hausinger scored his seventh goal of the year to keep him atop the league lead in scoring. The Jacks finished the game one for three on the powerplay and four for four on the penalty kill.

The Jacks head to Rio Grande Valley this Thursday and Friday night to take on the Killer Bees. Join the voice of the Jacks Joey Battaino for the call at 7:15 PM CT on both nights on Classic Rock 102.1 FM and FASTHockey.com.
