Keystone Ice Miners News Release

SAULT STE MARIE, MI - Austin Romzek and Vito Aluia scored their first goals of the season, Scott Donahue netted his second, and Nick Kossoff made 37 saves as the Ice Miners won their second straight against the Soo Eagles and third overall with a 3-1 victory on Saturday night at Pullar Stadium.

After the Ice Miners and Eagles played a scoreless first period, Romzek opened the scoring at 3:01 of the second period, ripping a shot off the crossbar and behind Soo goaltender Jack Berry. Noah Batis and Nick LeSage picked up assists. Soo's Bruno Birzitis tied the game at 6:12 when he capitalized on a turnover and beat Kossoff to tie the game at one. Trevor Cope assisted on the goal. Late in the period, Vito Aluia scored a shorthanded goal, working a nifty play with Jon Hall and restoring the Keystone lead at 17:37.

In the third period, the Ice Miners got some insurance from Scott Donahue when he took a pass from Matt Jones and extended the score to 3-1 at 5:25. Kossoff was brilliant in net, stopping 37 of 38 Soo shots.

Keystone will finish their Michigan swing with a game in Flint against the Michigan Warriors on Sunday afternoon at 4:00. The game will can be seen on FASTHockey.com. The "away" feed will carry the Ice Miners play-by-play network.
