Jacks Drop Feisty Affair In Amarillo, 5-0
AMARILLO, TX - In their final road game vs. Amarillo this season, the Odessa Jackalopes dropped a testy Saturday tilt by a final score of 5-0 to the Amarillo Bulls at Cal Farley Coliseum at Amarillo Civic Center. With the loss, the Jacks fell to 5-25-2 overall this season and with 12 points, remain alone in sixth place in the NAHL's South Division standings.
Amarillo took a 2-0 lead with a pair of goals that bookended the opening period, first from TJ Sarcona at 5:18, then a power-play maker from Mike Davis at 17:46. In the second, Connor Frey, Ryan Stevens and John Rey added even-strength goals at 3:05, 7:32 and 15:08 respectively. A scoreless third period left the final margin at 5-0 as Amarillo sent 57 shots on the Odessa cage for the second straight night with Jacks starter Phil Heinle and backup Nick Deery combining for 52 saves in the Jacks' fourth consecutive loss.
Saturday was a busy night for the Jackalopes' stable of enforcers, as Johan Sjoden and Zane Popilock each earned fighting majors in the early going with former Bull Popilock squaring off with his old teammate Omar Mullan off the opening faceoff of the second period.
Next up for the Jacks, it's the first trip of the season to the Texas gulf coast to take on the Corpus Christi IceRays at the American Bank Center on January 4th and 5th.
