Odessa Jackalopes News Release
(Odessa, TX) - The Jackalopes ran into nearly flawless goaltending from the Laredo Bucks in the first two games of their Conference Semifinal, losing the first two games over the weekend. Odessa is down 0-2 in the seven-game series heading to Laredo for games three and four this week.
Game 1 - Odessa vs. Laredo, 3-2 (OT) Loss
The Jackalopes trailed 2-0 entering the third period but Collin Circelli and Dave Van Drunen scored in the first four minutes to lock the game up at 2-2. The Jackalopes had chances to pull ahead but Laredo's Sebastien Centomo had a game saving night by stopping 38 of Odessa's 40 shots in the contest. In overtime a Darryl Smith shot deflected off Jean Bourbeau, as he dropped to the ice to try and block the shot, and past Alexandre Vincent to give Laredo a 3-2 overtime win.
Game 2 - Odessa vs. Laredo, 5-1 Loss
It was a disheartening start for the Jackalopes as Laredo's Shawn Snider scored a shorthanded goal 1:51 into the game. The Bucks added two more goals in the first period and score five total goals in the contest. Dominic Leveille put the Jacks only goal on the scoreboard in the third period, while Laredo's Andrew Martin made 37 saves in net to secure the 5-1 win in game two.
Game 3 - Odessa @ Laredo, Wednesday 7:00 PM
Game 4 - Odessa @ Laredo, Friday 7:30 PM
The Jackalopes won their only regular season game in Laredo by a 5-2 score back on November 6th. Collin Circelli, Phil Plante, and Jeff Pierce all scored third period goals to pull the Jacks away in the final frame. Laredo finished the regular season with a 21-9-2 home record while Odessa was 19-10-3 on the road.
Game 5 - Odessa vs. Laredo, Saturday 7:05 PM (if necessary)
The Jackalopes must win either game three or four in order to force a fifth game in the series. If that happens, game five will be on Saturday night at the Ector County Coliseum with a 7:05 PM puck drop.
Series Notes: Bucks' goaltenders Sebastien Centomo and Andrew Martin have stopped 75 of 78 Odessa shots in the first two games for a combined 1.40 GAA and a .961 SV%. Odessa's power play is 0-for-13 in the series after scoring the most power play goals in the CHL regular season with 110.
