
CHL Performance of the Year Finalists Announced

The Central Hockey League (CHL) announced today the five finalists for the CHL Performance of the Year. The final poll is now available at www.centralhockeyleague.com and will run through Monday, April 13th and be announced on Tuesday, April 14th.
The winner of the final regular season Performance of the Week poll has also been announced as one of the five finalists. The winner is Mudbugs goaltender Ken Carroll earning his 29th career CHL shutout (CHL record holder) and his third shutout of the season (received 283 of 722 votes cast). It came on March 20th in a 4-0 win versus Mississippi. It marks the second time this season that Carroll has won a CHL Performance of the Week mention.
Another finalist is Carroll's teammate with the 'Bugs, Travis Clayton, who reached a historic milestone on November 21st in Rocky Mountain when he played in his CHL record-breaking 709th career game. Clayton passed former Oklahoma City great Joe Burton who had 708 games played in his CHL career.
The third finalist is the game on December 13th between the Colorado Eagles and the Arizona Sundogs at the Budweiser Events Center. In the 7-5 Eagles win, both teams finished 5 for 12 on the power play with the combined 10 PP goals tying a CHL record. Arizona's Joel Irving and Adam Perry along with Colorado's Ryan Tobler each scored a pair of power play goals.
The fourth finalist is Rapid City goaltender Miguel Beaudry making 27 saves in the first ever home game for the expansion Rush, a 4-0 shutout victory over the Colorado Eagles on November 29th. The game featured everything the home could ask for in front of a sellout crowd of 5,119 fans.
The fifth and final spot goes to the Amarillo Gorillas who in their 6-5 victory over the Odessa Jackalopes on February 28th scored three goals in a 45 second period. The goals by Austin Sutter, Alex Greig and Warren Galloway came early in the second period after the Jackalopes had a built a 3-0 lead in the first period.
