Joliet JackHammers News Release

SCHAUMBURG, IL-The Joliet JackHammers pounded out a season-high 14 runs on 21 hits in earning a 14-9 victory over the Schaumburg Flyers on Sunday afternoon. With the win, the JackHammers split the four-game series against the Flyers. Joliet is now 7-15 with the win.

The Joliet JackHammers started the offensive slugfest with two runs in the first inning. J.D. Foust hit a two-run single off of Schaumburg starter Ian Holman to give the JackHammers the early edge.

Joliet starter Brad Morenko blew the lead by yielding six runs on eight hits in the second inning, as Schaumburg rolled out to a 6-2 lead.

After Morenko's tough second inning, the right-hander settled down and allowed two runs on three hits in the rest of his time on the hill. He pitched seven innings and allowed eight runs on 11 hits. Morenko improved to 2-3 with the win.

The JackHammers offense earned the second win of Morenko's season by scoring runs in every inning except the first and sixth. Joliet spread out it's offense very evenly as the JackHammers scored no greater than three runs in each of their innings at the plate.

In the fourth inning, the JackHammers got RBI singles from Blake Gill, John Lackaff, and Chad Ehrnsberger. Joliet scored two more runs in the fifth inning on an RBI single by Eddie Romprey and a sacrifice fly by Blake Gill, which scored Dennis Blackmon.

The JackHammers pushed across two more runs in the seventh inning and single runs in the eighth and ninth innings. Kyle Nichols hit his team-leading fifth home run of the year in the seventh. Chad Ehrnsbergerg went 2-6 with two singles and three RBI's.

Loose Gravel: The JackHammers previous season-high for runs scored in a single game came back on June 7 when the team scored 13 runs. Eddie Romprey' s afternoon (4-4) (four singles and four runs scored) gave him his first hits of the season in Sunday's win. Joliet finished it's 10 game road trip with a 3-7 record.
