
JackHammers Come Back for Win

KANSAS CITY, KS-The Joliet JackHammers (31-57) watched a 7-3 lead over the Kansas City T-Bones (41-47) whittled away before they scored two runs in the 9th inning to snap a 7-7 tied score and earn a 9-7 win before 6,218 fans at CommunityAmerica Ballpark on Sunday afternoon.
The JackHammers took a 2-0 lead in the 1st inning against Kansas City RHP Chris Rhoads. CF Adam Klein (1-3) worked a walk and moved to third base on a single by SS Kevin Rios (0-4). 1B Freddie Thon (3-5) hit an RBI single to score Klein and give the JackHammers a 1-0 lead.
RF Tim Alberts (1-5) reached base on a fielder's choice. Rios scored from third base for a 2-0 Joliet lead.
The T-Bones scored three runs in the 1st inning to take a 3-2 lead. After LF Aharon Eggleston (1-5) reached base on an error, 2B Damian Rolls (0-4) hit into a fielder's choice to retire Eggleston at second base. RF Greg Jacobs (1-5) responded with a single to move Rolls to third base.
CF Luis Terrero (1-3) hit an RBI single to score Rolls for a 2-1 Joliet lead. 1B Jim Fasano (2-4) and 3B Jacob Blackwood (2-4) each singled to drive in runs and give Kansas City a 3-2 lead.
The JackHammers tied the game in the 3rd inning. Klein singled and Rios was hit by a pitch. Thon hit a single to score Klein for a 3-3 tied score.
Joliet erupted for three runs in the 4th inning and a 6-3 score. DH Mike Garcia (1-4) and Lopez hit back-to-back singles to start off the inning. LF Eric Scriven (1-4) was hit by a pitch to load the bases.
Klein grounded out to first base to score Garcia for a 4-3 lead. Lopez moved to third base on the play. 2B Rob Dahlberg (0-4) lined a sacrifice fly to center field to score Lopez for a 5-3 lead. Rios hit an RBI single to plate Scriven for a 6-3 lead.
The JackHammers took a 7-3 lead on a solo home run by Scriven in the 6th inning.
Kansas City scored four unanswered runs beginning with a solo home run in the 6th inning by C Craig Hurba (1-5).
The T-Bones tied the game on a two-run double by Fasano in the 8th inning.
The JackHammers broke the 7-7 tie in the 9th inning. With two outs in the inning, Alberts reached base on a single. 3B Wally Backman, Jr. (0-5) reached base on an error by T-Bones third baseman Jacob Blackwood. Garcia walked to load the bases. Lopez lined a two-run single to score both Alberts and Backman, Jr. for a 9-7 lead.
Joliet continues its seven-game road trip in Winnipeg on Monday night at 7:00 p.m. The JackHammers send RHP Luke O'Loughlin (1-1, 10.69) to the mound against LHP Bill Pulsipher (2-1, 2.77) for the Winnipeg Goldeyes.
