
Jackets Drop Fifth Straight

Charleston, SC - The Augusta GreenJackets (11-15) opened a four game road trip against the Charleston RiverDogs (20-5) with a 6-3 loss on Tuesday night. Starter Oliver Odle allowed six runs and Brock Bond extended his hit streak to 14 games as Augusta dropped its fifth straight game.
The RiverDogs broke a 1-1 tie in the third inning with two runs for a 3-1 lead. Justin Snyder drove in a run with an RBI ground out then Jesus Montero followed with an RBI sac-fly to center.
Charleston added two more runs in the fourth inning on a two-out, two-run homer from Walter Ibarra and another run in the fifth inning on a two-out RBI single from Wady Rufino to chase Odle from the game and take a 6-2 lead.
Odle (1-3) worked 4.2 innings and allowed seven hits, one walk and struck out one.
Augusta plated the first run of the game in the second inning when Garrett Baker scored from third base on a passed ball for a 1-0 GreenJackets lead.
The RiverDogs tied the game 1-1 in the bottom half of the second on a solo home run from Brandon Laird with one out.
Augusta got single runs in the fourth inning and the sixth inning but could not get anymore as the final 12 batters in a row were retired by the RiverDogs pitchers.
Zach McAllister worked eight strong innings for the win and allowed three runs, one earned, on five hits. The right-hander did not walk a batter and struck out six.
Jonathan Ortiz recorded his eighth save with a perfect ninth recording one strikeout.
The GreenJackets and RiverDogs continue their series on Wednesday night with Augusta sending lefty Madison Bumgarner (2-2, 5.00) to the mound. Charleston will counter with right-hander Dellin Betances (3-0, 2.39). First pitch is at 7:05 p.m.
Game Notes:
Brock Bond has hit safely in 14 straight games and finished 2-for-4 in the game...Bond matched the GreenJackets 2008 season high hit streak set by Thomas Neal.
Augusta played its first nine inning game of the season without an error, snapping a string of 21 games straight that Augusta committed an error.
Daryl Maday worked 3.1 scoreless innings for Augusta in relief walking just one and struck out three.
Thomas Neal drove in two runs for Augusta and leads the team with 16 RBIs.
