New Jersey Jackals News Release
Little Falls, NJ - The New Jersey Jackals played an all-around impressive ballgame in their first game of a seven game road trip by defeating the Worcester Tornadoes 4-2. The Jackals also snapped a four game losing streak.
New Jersey scored runs in the first and second and innings, giving starter Brad Whitworth an early cushion. John Lindsey and Tyler Brock both tallied RBIs.
In the third, Worcester sent the game back to square one when Omar Pena crushed a two run blast. It would only last until the fifth. Sandy Madera doubled home Zack Smithlin to put the Jackals ahead 3-2.
Rich Gomez homered, a solo shot, in the top of the six, extending New Jersey's lead to two runs, and Whitworth and Isaac Pavlik made sure it would end that way.
Whitworth pitched a stupendous eight innings for the Jackals. He surrendered only five hits, while allowing two earned runs, and striking out nine.
Madera went 2-4 for New Jersey with an RBI. Yohanny Valera had three hits in four at-bats for the Worcester Tornadoes.
