Elmira Jackals News Release

Elmira, NY - The Elmira Jackals announced today that they have signed Elmira College goaltender Greg Fargo and EC defenseman Andrew Morris to standard player contracts.

Fargo had an excellent senior season at Elmira College this year. The 6'0", 200 lbs. goaltender was 16-4-2 in 2005-06, with a 2.04 GAA and a 0.926 save percentage. He led the Soaring Eagles to the 2006 NCAA Division III Men's Frozen Four at the First Arena in Elmira. He joins the Jackals looking to make his professional debut. Over his 4-year Elmira College career, Fargo earned a record of 45-29-9 in 88 games played and posted a 3.24 GAA along with a 0.903 save percentage. The Kingston, Ontario native is EC's All-Time leader in Saves (2,565), Minutes (5,122), and Shots Faced (2842), while being 3rd in save percentage (0.902) and 4th in Wins (45). His career save percentage standing is even more impressive considering he faced 480 more shots than any other EC goalie.

Morris finished off his senior season for the Soaring Eagles with 10 points (3goals, 7 assists) and 48 minutes in 26 games played, including his first appearance in the 2006 NCAA Division III Frozen Four. The 6'2", 220 lbs defenseman is, like Fargo, looking to make his professional debut with the Jackals. The Orillia, Ontario native played 98 games in 4-years for EC, tallying 51 points (13 goals, 38 assists) and 205 penalty minutes.

"We am excited to get two more fresh young faces in the lineup," said Jackals Head Coach and Director of Hockey Operations Perry Florio. "Both Greg and Andrew had terrific senior seasons at Elmira College, culminating with their first trip to the Frozen Four in several years. We hope adding them to our roster will be a great way to provide some more excitement and also give them their first taste of professional hockey."

Both Fargo and Morris are awaiting approval of their H2B work visa petitions; they are currently in the US on student visas. The Jackals hope to receive that approval in time to activate them for Friday's game in Danbury.

The Jackals are back in action on Friday March 31st as they travel to Connecticut to take on the Danbury Trashers at 7:30 pm at the Danbury Ice Arena. The Jackals then return home for a 2-game weekend affair with the Roanoke Valley Vipers, beginning Saturday April 1st at 7:05 pm at the First Arena.
