Jackals Release Two; Redlihs Goes Back To Syracuse

ELMIRA, NY - The Elmira Jackals, proud member of the ECHL, announced today that forward Chris Holmes and goaltender Tyler Mittlestead have been released by the club while defenseman Jekabs Redlihs has been recalled by Syracuse (AHL).

Holmes, 21, appeared in seven game with the Jackals with no points or penalty minutes and was an even +/- with four shots on goal. Elmira signed Holmes on December 26th from Valley Forge of the Mid-Atlantic Hockey League.

Mittlestead, a Centerville, Ohio, native, was signed on Friday by the Jackals to serve as the emergency back-up to Joel Martin for the club's weekend set of games in Dayton. Mittlestead did not appear in either Friday's 6-3 win or Saturday's 3-1 loss.

Redlihs, 25, appeared in his final two games with the Jackals in Dayton and picked up four assists in 21 overall contests with 21 PIM and a +5 rating. Redlihs, from Riga, Latvia, plans on returning to Europe to continue his professional career overseas.

The Jackals are back in action at First Arena Friday, January 11th, against the Johnstown Chiefs and Saturday, January 12th, versus the North Division-leading Cincinnati Cyclones.
