Odessa Jackalopes News Release

CORPUS CHRISTI, TX- The Odessa Jackalopes (11-13-1) were swept by the Corpus Christi IceRays (12-11-1) 5-2 at the American Bank Center in Corpus Christi.

The Jacks fell behind 2-0 in the first period and then 4-0 early on in the second. The Rays were the beneficiaries of several power plays in the first and second, of which they converted on two of them. Odessa ended up 0/3 on the man advantage on the evening.

For the second straight night Corpus Christi benefited from solid goaltending as Sam Best topped several quality Jackalope chances in the second period. Odessa got one back on the as Connor Fedorek completed a tic-tac-toe passing play to get the Jackalopes on the board to make it 4-1 Rays.

The Jackalopes had a chance to claw back in in third but another Corpus Christi goal put paid to those thoughts, at least for a moment.

Kyle Herbster scored quickly to pull the Jackalopes back to a three-goal deficit.

Though the Jackalopes had several chances to close the gap they could not find the back of the net and fell for the third straight game against the IceRays 5-2.

The loss drops the Jackalopes to 6th place in the North American Hockey League South Division. This also marks the first time the Jackalopes had been swept on a weekend series since October 19 and 20 when the Jacks were swept on the road against Lone Star.

The Jackalopes and IceRays will both travel to Odessa for a three-game series at the Ector County Coliseum. The series will start on Thursday and will conclude on Saturday with a teddy bear toss at the JackShack. All three games are scheduled to start at 7:11 pm CST.
