Jack Stark Named USHL Goalie of the Week

GENEVA, ILLINOIS - Jack Stark has been named USHL Goalie of the Week for the first time in his USHL career, the League announced Monday.

Stark, a Yale University commit, is the sixth Chicago Steel player to earn USHL weekly honors this season joining teammates Jack Harvey, Michael Emerson, Macklin Celebrini, Nicholas Moldenhauer, and Jayden Perron.

In his lone game this past weekend against the Green Bay Gamblers on Saturday, Nov. 26, Stark was outstanding, stopping 30 of 31 shots in a 2-1 Chicago victory.

"Jack Stark has been a great leader on our team," said Steel Assistant Coach Karel Popper. "His presence on and off the ice has been instrumental for our culture."

It was his second straight start stopping 30 of 31 shots after defeating Youngstown 2-1 in overtime on Saturday, Nov. 19. Stark's overall record now stands at 5-1-0-0 with a SV% of .932 and GAA of 2.49. He has made 30 or more saves in all six of his appearances this season.

"His ability to bounce back from adversity is a tribute to his resilience and work ethic which as paid off night in and night out," said Popper. "We are proud to have Jack defending our net."

Stark is in his third season with the Steel, registering a SV% of .896 and GAA of 2.64 in his rookie season to earn a spot on the USHL All-Rookie First Team. An injury forced Stark to miss all but one game during the 2021-2022 season.

The Steel match up for a pair of games this weekend, December 2 and 3, to take on the Muskegon Lumberjacks with both games scheduled to begin at 7:05 pm. On Saturday, December 3, the Steel host Winterfest presented by Rookies All-American Pub and Grill. The team will wear special holiday-themed jerseys to be auctioned off online to benefit the Cyclones Amateur Hockey Association.
