New Orleans VooDoo News Release
NEW ORLEANS (April 3, 2012) - After leading the New Orleans VooDoo defense to a total of seven turnovers and a 72-57 victory on the road against Utah, jack linebacker Alvin Ray Jackson was named the Riddell Defensive Player of the Week, announced the League office on Tuesday evening.
Jackson accounted for three interceptions in the win, and led the VooDoo defense with 4.5 tackles (4 solo). The three interceptions were a single game career-high for Jackson on the AFL level.
"We are all very proud of Alvin Ray and his accomplishments," said VooDoo Head Coach Pat O'Hara. "Our defense did its part in Utah by forcing seven turnovers with three by Alvin Ray. We are going to need a solid defensive performance like that this week against a very talented Tampa Bay team."
Jackson is a Como, Miss. native, and is in his second season with the New Orleans VooDoo, and is the only returning player from 2011 that played in all 18 games.
