Dutton, Jackson and Williams Earn Week 4 Honors

CHICAGO - Cleveland Gladiators QB JOHN DUTTON has been named Russell Athletic Offensive Player of the Week. New Orleans Voodoo JLB ALVIN RAY JACKSON and Tampa Bay WR/LB VICTOR WILLIAMS have been named Riddell Defensive Player of the Week and JLS Ironman of the Week, respectively, for Week 4 of the 2012 AFL season. In addition to these three awards, the AFL is also awarding the Cutters Catch of the Week, the AFL Playmaker of the Week and the Spalding Highlight of the Week. The Cutters Catch of the Week award winner for Week 4 is WR TIGER JONES of the Philadelphia Soul, while the AFL Playmaker of the Week 4 is Jacksonville Sharks WR/DB TERRANCE SMITH. The Spalding Highlight of the Week award winner is Utah Blaze QB TOMMY GRADY's four-yard touchdown pass off his knees to teammate AARON LESUE.

RUSSELL ATHLETIC OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK

Gladiators QB Dutton (6'4, 230, Nevada) led the charge in Cleveland's road win over the Philadelphia Soul. Dutton went 29-of-39 for 305 yards, threw a Gladiators' season-high nine touchdowns and scored one rushing touchdown in the 68-62 victory. Dutton has thrown 18 touchdowns this season with only six picks and has not been sacked since Cleveland's Week 1 loss to the Force.

RIDDELL DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK

Jackson (6'1, 195, Albany State) wreaked havoc on defense in New Orleans' road victory against the Utah Blaze. The linebacker led the Voodoo with three interceptions returned for 27 yards in the 72-57 win. His three interceptions rank second in the League in 2012. Jackson also compiled 4.5 tackles in the game. He has recorded 7.5 tackles on the season.

JLS IRONMAN OF THE WEEK

Williams (6'4, 225, Northern Iowa) provided a spectacular performance that helped the Storm take down in-state divisional rival, the Jacksonville Sharks, in Week 4. Williams did a bit of everything in the team's win; he notched a kickoff return for a touchdown, posted a sack, forced a fumble and grabbed three catches for 28 yards. The wide receiver's efforts helped lock the Storm into a first-place tie with the Georgia Force atop the South Division.

CUTTERS CATCH OF THE WEEK

Jones (5-11, 195, Louisville), the reigning AFL Cutters' Wide Receiver of the Year, lived up to his award with a acrobatic catch over the wall during last week's loss to the Cleveland Gladiators, 62-68. Jones made the play on a 22-yard touchdown reception at the start of the third quarter. Stretching out for the ball, Jones tumbled head first over the back wall of the end zone. The catch gave Philadelphia a temporary 41-34 lead to open the second half.

AFL PLAYMAKER OF THE WEEK

Smith (6'2, 200, South Carolina State) brought two kickoffs back for touchdowns in the first quarter against Tampa on Friday night. He tallied eight returns for 190 yards in Jacksonville's last second loss to the Storm, 69-71. Smith also turned in five catches for 69 yards and three touchdowns in the game.

SPALDING HIGHLIGHT OF THE WEEK

After inadvertently falling to his knees, Grady (6-7, 245, Utah) fired a four-yard strike to WR Aaron Lesue earning the Blaze a touchdown against the VooDoo, and the Spalding Highlight of the Week. Grady finished with seven touchdown passes in the game, two of which were caught by Lesue.

Russell Athletic Offensive Player of the Week candidates included: San Antonio's Carl Moore, Milwaukee's Gino Guidugli, Arizona's Nick Davila, Tampa Bay's Stephen Wasil, San Jose's Mark Grieb, Chicago's Russ Michna and New Orleans' Greg Ellingson.

Riddell Defensive Player of the Week candidates included: Orlando's Travis Coleman, Milwaukee's Marcus Everett, Arizona's Marquis Floyd, Jacksonville's Derrick Summers, San Jose's Francis Maka, Chicago's Vic Hall, Utah's Michael Lewis and Philadelphia's Kent Richardson.

JLS Ironman of the Week candidates included: Milwaukee's Marcus Everett, Arizona's Virgil Gray, Spokane's Terrance Sanders, Iowa's Rodney Filer, Utah's Ernie Pierce and Cleveland's Tim Cheatwood.

The Arena Football League is also awarding the National Guard MVP of the Week, where fans are given the opportunity to select the winner on ArenaFootball.com. Candidates include New Orleans QB KURT ROCCO, Jacksonville WR/DB TERRANCE SMITH and Cleveland WR DOMINICK GOODMAN. The winner will be announced on Thursday, April 5, 2012.
