
Iwasa PKs and Lacroix goal split the points in Carson, CA

CARSON, California - Cameron Iwasa logged his second brace of the season as Republic FC split points with LA Galaxy II on Wednesday.
The Indomitable Club came out of the gate swinging in the first half. A blocked shot from Cameron Iwasa just 23 seconds in set the tone, as the club would go forward to put five of nine shots on target and manufacture six scoring chances in the first half.
19 year old Mario Penagos would draw a foul in the box, and Sacramento would capitalize from the spot in the 16th minute. Iwasa buried the attempt, netting his fifth score of the season and second in as many games. The goal was the first of Iwasa's career against Galaxy II and 57th overall, moving him into 7th place all-time in USL.
The Indomitable Club widened their advantage to 2-0 in the 29th minute, when Duke Lacroix carried through the middle before finding net for his first score of the season. Lacroix would finish with two shots on target while completing 72% of his passes for the night.
Galaxy II would refuse to go down quietly, getting on the board just three minutes later when Preston Judd headed in a well-placed cross from Jonathan Perez in transition. Los Angeles nearly pulled even before the end of the half, but a great save from Rafael Diaz kept Republic FC's advantage intact going into the break.
Los Angeles would begin to knock on the door as the match continued. A great defensive effort would keep Sacramento's lead intact in the 55th minute, when Jordan McCrary would head out a dangerous look from Cameron Dunbar.
Seconds after a missing a wide open opportunity inside the penalty box, Preston Judd would bag his second score of the night off a cross from Axel Picazo in the 79th minute.Galaxy would pull ahead on an 85th minute penalty after a foul was called on goalkeeper Rafa Diaz trying to stop Judd one-on-one.
Republic FC's deficit would not last long, as the Indomitable Club would be awarded another penalty in the 89th minute. Cameron Iwasa netted the attempt for his second score of the night, giving the forward his second brace of the season and moving him ahead of Tucker Bone for the team lead in goals.
Sacramento returns to action this Sunday, when they travel to Las Vegas for their final meeting of the season with Lights FC at Cashman Field. Kickoff is set for 7:00 p.m. and the match will be broadcast on KQCA My58, Estrella TV Sacramento, ESPN+, as well as Sirius XM FC.
