
Ivan Militar Joins El Paso Locomotive FC as New Director of USL Academy Teams

EL PASO, Texas - El Paso Locomotive FC is excited to welcome Ivan Militar as Director for its Locomotive USL Academy teams. Militar will join the Locomotive USL Academy ahead of its entry into the US Youth Soccer National League Elite 64.
Militar comes to El Paso Locomotive from Richmond United Boys in Virginia where he served as the Head Coach of their U15 and U16 teams. Through the 2021-2022 season, Militar led the two clubs to a third place and a second place finish respectively in the Elite Clubs National League (ECNL). Prior to joining the Richmond organization, Militar coached at the prestigious Barca Residency Academy in Casa Grande, Arizona. While in Arizona, Militar worked with many players who now play in the professional ranks including Locomotive Midfielder Diego Luna and former Locomotive USL Academy player Brooklyn Raines, who now plays in the midfield for Houston Dynamo. Additionally, Militar has worked with LAFC's Bryce Duke and New York Red Bulls' Caden Clark.
Originally from Szeged, Hungary, Militar came to the United States to play soccer at the collegiate level at Old Dominion, where he captained the Division I Soccer team and earned 2015 First Team All-Conference USA honors. Following his playing career, Militar began coaching at Beach FC in Virginia, moving to Director of Coaching for the club between 2017 and 2019.
While at Old Dominion University, Militar earned a Bachelor's degree in Sports Management and Psychology, a Master's degree in Higher Education Leadership, and a doctoral level Education Specialist degree in Higher Education. Militar carries his USSF 'C'-License and is scheduled to complete his coaching 'B'-License in June 2022.
Since its founding in 2022, El Paso Locomotive Youth Soccer and the Locomotive USL Academy teams have excelled in its mission to provide the El Paso community a platform for success through competitive soccer. By providing El Paso youth soccer hopefuls a supportive and competitive environment, El Paso Locomotive paves the way for its players to reach success in either professional or collegiate levels. Across all levels in both the Youth Club teams and the USL Academy teams, Locomotive Youth Soccer has won four Copa Rayados trophies, an Alianza National Championship, and reached the semifinals of the prestigious Dallas Cup. Three Locomotive USL Academy players have also played for the first team, earning professional debuts and minutes against quality USL championship teams.
El Paso Locomotive Youth Academy teams will be hosting open tryouts ahead of entering the USYS National League Elite 64 beginning Monday, May 23 for players ranging from U13 to U18. Additionally, the Locomotive Youth Soccer Club teams will be hosting open tryouts ranging from U11 to U18.
