INDIANAPOLIS - Rene Meulensteen, former First Team Coach for Sir Alex Ferguson at Manchester United, along with representatives from Indiana Soccer and several other local and national soccer figures will be in Indianapolis this weekend to crown this year's individual Champions at the United States Technical Championship (USTC) National Finals.

Hosted in the Circle City for the first time, the USTC National Finals will take place this Saturday, November 14, at the home of Indy Eleven, IUPUI's Michael A. Carroll Stadium (1001 W. New York Street). The on-field competition will take place from 11:00 a.m.-2:30 p.m. ET, followed by a 3:00 p.m. award ceremony in Lecture Hall (325 N. University Blvd.) Room 101.

Indiana Soccer and Sportpartners USA will host the competition, which showcases children from different backgrounds and cultures representing 18 different states and provinces across the United States and Canada. Winners from local USTC events across North America qualified for the 2015 National Championships, where they will compete among and against the most technical youth soccer players on the continent.

Regional site winners will compete in one of four categories depending on their age in the 6-to-13 year old group. The USTC event is split into two components with the first having players learn four one-on-one situations through training activities designed by Coach Meulensteen that provide a clear purpose and direction. With repetition and positive encouragement, players grow in confidence.

During the second stage of the challenge defenders are introduced to new activities and small-sided games where players are encouraged to showcase their skill, confidence, and creativity. Players who demonstrate the greatest success and creativity in each age category throughout the event in the eyes of the USTC judges will be declared the winners of the 2015 US Technical Championship Finals.
