Saginaw Spirit News Release
Elmont, NY - The New York Islanders announced this morning that they have signed Spirit goaltender Tristan Lennox to a three year entry-level contract. Lennox was the Islanders' third round selection (93rd overall) in the 2021 NHL Draft.
"This day means so much to me and my family," said Lennox. "I'm so thankful for the people around me that have helped me during this dream of mine.
The Cambridge, Ontario native arrived in Saginaw as a second round pick in the 2018 OHL priority selection. Through five seasons, the Lennox has played 116 OHL games with the Spirit, sitting 5th in franchise history in both wins (56) and games played (116).
This season, Lennox has returned with power after injuries shortened his 2021-2022 season to just 28 games. With 11 games remaining, Lennox has already made a career-high 40 appearances, as well as posting multiple shutouts (2) in the same season for the first time at the OHL level. On February 17th against the Guelph Storm, Lennox's 21'st win of the season also established a single-season career high.
Through his 40 games this season, Lennox has a 22-15-2 record with a 3.28 GAA and an .880 SV%. He has been named the OHL's goaltender of the month in both November and December, becoming the first Spirit goaltender to do so since Ivan Prosvetov in 2019.
In Lennox's playing career and his everyday life, he's been guided particularly by Isaiah 41:10, "Fear thou not; for I am with thee: be not dismayed; for I am thy God: I will strengthen thee; yea, I will help thee; yea, I will uphold thee with the right hand of my righteousness."
Lennox and the Spirit now begin a three-game road trip through the Eastern Conference that begins this Thursday in Peterborough at 7:05pm.
