Ironmen Top Paints 7-4

(Chillicothe, OH)- The Ironmen offense showed up early and often at VA Memorial Stadium in Chillicothe on Thursday night. After falling behind 1-0 in the 1st inning, the Ironmen pounded out 17 hits on the way to a 7-4 victory over the Paints.

The offensive onslaught was lead by Jeff Cola. Cola went 5-5 including two homeruns and 4 runs batted in.

The Paints scored first in the bottom of the 1st inning when Brian Suredick drove in Brad Clement on a 2 out single. Cola then started the top of the second with a solo homerun, his first of the season. The Ironmen added two more in the second on RBI hits from Nolan Neuschaefer and Michael Burke. Cola added his second homerun, a two run shot, in the top of 5th inning. Steel Russell also delivered an RBI in his first appearance for the Ironmen.

Kevin Hughes started for the Ironmen. The righty from University of Buffalo had another great start. He went 6 innings giving up 2 runs, both earned. He allowed 7 hits, he walked 2 and struck out 3. The win improves his record to 3-0 on the season.

Cameron Palmer came on to record the final two outs in the 9th inning to record his 3rd save of the season.

The Ironmen return home on Friday when they take on the Danville Dans at 7:05 at the Pipe Yard.
