Lorain County Ironmen News Release

(Beckley, WV)- The Lorain County Ironmen came to Beckley, WV on a business trip. They came looking to handle the business of closing the gap in the Eastern Division of the Prospect League. After losing the first game of a four game series with the Miners the Ironmen have won two in a row after a 5-0 win on Saturday night over the West Virginia Miners.

Andrew Revello continued to show why the Ironmen have one of the top ranked pitching staffs in the Prospect League. Revello started and went 6 innings allowing only 4 hits while walking 1 and striking out 3. The win improves Revello's record to 1-2. Dan Poskocil then came on to pitch the 7, 8, and 9 innings for a three inning save, his first of the season. Poskocil allowed only 1 hit while striking out 4.

The Ironmen's offense has averaged 10.5 hits a game this season. That average held true as the offense pounded out 10 hits while scoring 5 runs. The Ironmen jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the top of the 1st inning. Michael Burke walked with 1 out. Zak Blair then singled through the right side to put runners at 1st and 2nd. Sam Alvis followed with a double to score Burke and send Blair to 3rd. Michael Grieco then hit a shot that kicked of the shoulder of the second basemen to score Blair and Alvis. The Ironmen added two more runs in the 8th inning.

With the win the Ironmen have shutout the Miners in back to back games running the scoreless streak to 20.3 innings. The Miners had yet to be beaten at home or shutout this year, before the two shutout wins by the Ironmen. The win moves the Ironmen to within 2 games of first place. The two teams finish off the 4 game series Sunday at 4:05 at Epling Stadium.
