Bombers Taken Down by League-Leading Quincy, 4-0

Dubois County Bombers News Release

The Dubois County Bombers faced off against the league-leading Quincy Gems Saturday night and were defeated 4-0. Quincy starter T.J. Kendzora was almost untouchable, pitching a complete game shutout. Kendzora allowed just three hits and struck out seven, which was the main story Saturday.

Ryan Rizzi (South Suburban College) pitched a solid game for the Bombers, allowing just one earned run over seven innings. Quincy got the lead in the fourth inning after Derek Mattea reached on an error by shortstop Grant Zawadzki. Gems shortstop Anthony Hecht then roped a double to right field which scored Mattea.

Jordan Eich relieved Rizzi in the eighth, and Quincy's bats came alive. In Eich's 2/3 of an inning of work, the Gems knocked four hits and put three more runs across to widen the gap.

Dubois County had few chances offensively, but give the credit to Kendzora. He limited the Bombers' offense and kept them off balance all night. The only three hits the Bombers had came from CF Danny Poma (Hofstra), RF Aric Marquardt (St. Joseph's College), and LF Kirby Campbell (Ball State). Even when the offense did hit the ball hard, it always seemed to be right at a Quincy defender.

The Bombers' next home game is Monday, June 27th against the DeKalb County Liners. Game time is set for 7:15 pm EDT. Don't forget to reserve your 4th of July Bomber tickets by calling 812-683-3700 or stopping by the Bombers' office at League Stadium. On the 4th, Dubois County will host the Danville Dans and FIREWORKS will follow the game. Act quickly, so you don't miss out on the action!
