Aberdeen IronBirds News Release
The IronBirds (18-16) were shutout for the 3rd time this season on Thursday night, by the score of 5-0. Starter Russ Brocato took the loss, falling to 2-2 on the year. The loss was the 7th straight for Aberdeen, including being swept on their 6 game homestand.
There were few bright spots for Aberdeen on Thursday, as Levi Robinson, Quincy Ascencion and Rafael Diaz tallied singles in addition to Mike Costello's 2 out pinch hit double in the 9th. Williamsport (13-20) pitching faced only one more than the minimum, as the first three men to reach base for Aberdeen were retired on the basepaths.
Reliever Trent Baysinger pitched 5 1/3 terrific innings in relief, giving up no runs on 4 hits and no walks, while striking out 2. Sean Spencer pitched the 9th, and struck out the side. He has 6 K's in 2 innings for Aberdeen.
The âBirds hit the road for 3 in Brooklyn starting tomorrow night. Bryce Chamberlin will take the mound hoping to reverse Aberdeen's recent fortune, as their 7 game losing streak is now tied for the longest in team history.
